General
If you don’t feel well, you might prefer to stay home and receive care there. The care that you receive at home does not differ from that provided in clinics-the same professional-grade equipment and supplies, and the same doctors.
Plans and payment
Yes. Self-paid patients are accepted. Please call our clinic for additional information and up to date fees.
We accept health insurance. Currently, we accept major plans of Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and Medicare. We also accept out of pocket payments and plans that are not covered as an out-of-network provider, but please call before making an appointment for such cases.
When you schedule your appointment, ensure you provide accurate and detailed information about your plan. If we do not cover your plan, we will promptly contact you via phone so that your care is not delayed.
Service
No. We use the same professional-grade equipment like ECG, Vital Signs Machine, AED, Nebulizer, and so on that physicians use in their clinics. Fortunately, technology has come a long way in the past few decades so that same- or better-quality professional equipment is portable and can be carried to the patient’s home. That is also true in regards to supplies.
18 and older
The location. We triage, address the patients’ needs, and then order studies and treatments electronically. If sample collection is required for studies (such as blood, sputum, or urine), we collect it at patients’ home unless they prefer collection in a local lab facility. The entire encounter is documented in an electronic medical record (EMR) system. Overall, the quality of care and medical procedures remain consistent across both settings, ensuring you receive appropriate treatment regardless of location.
Imaging and lab results are available in your patient portal as soon as they are provided by Quest Diagnostics or the imaging facility in your Patient Portal.
If a result calls for prompt intervention, UMD will call you immediately.
Our doctors collects samples (blood, sputum, urine, etc) when they see the patient at their home unless the patient prefers to go to a local lab service and perform the sampling there.
At this point, all labs studies are performed by Quest Diagnostics.
Of note, Quest bills your insurance (or you directly in case you do not have insurance or the test is not covered by your insurance). UMD Health has no input or control over test costs.
